Information you provide directly when building your Makutet profile, including:

• Your display name, profile photograph, and a short tagline
• Your professional biography and creator-provided personal input
• Your current base location (country, region, city) and origin location
• Languages you speak
• Travel specialisms and content categories
• Countries and destinations you have travelled to
• Brands, hotels, airlines, tourism boards, and other organisations associated with your work
• Media features, articles, interviews, and awards
• Creator services you offer
• Travel links and recommendations
• Portfolio content: Instagram reels, YouTube videos, photographs, and blog posts
• Contact information (email, phone, WhatsApp) and your preferences for displaying them publicly

You may manually provide links to your social media profiles (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X/Twitter), your website, and your blog. When you supply a link without connecting the account through our authorisation flow, we store the URL you provided but do not import content from that platform.

When you choose to connect a social media account (such as TikTok or Instagram) through our authorisation flow, you will be redirected to the platform’s own authorisation screen, where you control what access Makutet is granted. We only access information that the relevant platform’s API permits and that you authorise.

The precise information available depends on the platform, the API, the permissions you authorise, and current platform restrictions. We do not claim access to information that the platform’s API does not provide, and we do not access private content unless the authorised API genuinely permits it.

For authenticated connections, we typically receive:

• Your public profile information (username, display name, profile photo)
• Account-level metadata (such as follower count, where available)
• Content metadata from your public posts (such as captions, titles, thumbnail image URLs, and engagement counts like view, like, and comment counts)

We do not download or store video or image files from your social media accounts. We store metadata (text and URLs) only. Thumbnail and cover image URLs are stored so we can display them in your profile, but the underlying media files remain hosted by the originating platform.

We use AI-assisted analysis to help build your profile from the information you provide and the content imported from your authorised connections. This process generates evidence-backed findings (such as destinations, brands, and content categories) that you can review, confirm, edit, or reject before they are published to your profile.

We retain the source evidence and detection information used to generate findings, so that every finding on your profile is traceable to the source that produced it.

If you contact us (for example, through a support request, feature request, or enquiry form), we collect the information you provide in that communication, including your name, email address, and the content of your message.

We automatically collect certain technical information when you use Makutet.me, including your IP address, browser type, device type, and usage data (such as pages visited and features used). This information is used for security, analytics, and service improvement.

When you choose to connect a social media account, you are redirected to that platform’s own authorisation screen. The platform asks you to grant Makutet specific permissions. You can choose whether to grant or deny these permissions. Makutet only receives data that the platform’s API provides and that you have explicitly authorised.

Accepting Makutet’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy is not the same as authorising a social media account. Social account authorisation happens separately, through the platform’s own OAuth consent screen, and you can decline without affecting your Makutet account.

When you connect your TikTok account, Makutet requests access through TikTok’s official API. The information we receive depends on the permissions you grant and what TikTok’s API makes available. Typically, this may include your public profile information and metadata from your public videos (such as video titles, descriptions, and engagement counts).

We do not have unrestricted access to your TikTok account. We can only access the data that TikTok’s API provides for the permissions you authorise, and we use that data to help construct your professional travel profile on Makutet.me.

When you connect your Instagram account, Makutet requests access through the Instagram Graph API. The information we receive depends on the permissions you grant and what the Instagram API makes available. Typically, this may include your public profile information and metadata from your media (such as captions, media types, and engagement counts).

We do not have unrestricted access to your Instagram account. We can only access the data that the Instagram API provides for the permissions you authorise.

Imported social data is used to help construct and maintain your professional travel profile and related Makutet.me functionality. Specifically, we use it to:

• Generate evidence-backed findings (destinations, brands, content categories) for your review
• Display content metadata (such as thumbnails and captions) in your portfolio
• Populate your travel map and travel statistics

We do not claim ownership of your social media content. Your content remains yours. We store metadata (text and URLs) from your authorised accounts, not the underlying media files.

You can disconnect an authorised social account at any time from your Makutet.me dashboard. When you disconnect, we stop importing new content from that account. Previously imported content metadata that has been confirmed and added to your profile will remain on your profile until you remove it manually.

We use third-party service providers to operate Makutet.me, including cloud hosting, authentication, database infrastructure, and email delivery. These providers have access to your information only to perform services on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes.

When you connect a social media account, your authorised data is retrieved from that platform (e.g. TikTok, Instagram). The platform’s own terms and privacy policy govern your relationship with that platform. Makutet’s access to your social data is subject to the platform’s API terms and the permissions you grant.

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on our service of any change in ownership or use of your information.
